Surveys

Decision Demographics’ national surveys of the older population, conducted by The Gallup Organization, collect comprehensive data about the behaviors, experiences, preferences, plans, and problems of America’s 60-plus population.

These surveys, gathered from individuals aged 60 and over, ask a series of in-depth questions about each person’s experiences with housing, health care, lifestyle preferences, future expectations, and the ways they meet their needs

The questions asked on our surveys include:

  • Demographics: What is the age, sex, educational attainment, race and ethnicity, and marital status of the respondent?
  • Current housing: What are their perceptions of the local
availability of different forms of housing? What are their
strategies for finding housing information? How much is their current home worth?
  • Future housing: What are the attitudes and preferences
seniors have when it comes to housing? What about
housing-related amenities and plans for housing in the future?
  • Health care choice: How easy is it to find information sources? How do they make provider choices?
  • Health care access: What are the barriers to care? What are their perceptions of local service availability?
  • Health insurance: What is the coverage, who are the providers, and where are the sources of information?
  • Disability: Do they have any? What kinds? Physical? Sensory? Mental? Work-related?
  • Active adult housing: What are their attitudes and preferences for choosing active adult housing? What about amenities, and location?
